It’s been quite a month for golfers associated with Cleveland Golf Club.
From junior success on some of the world’s most famous links courses to national amateur glory, county championship success and our own Club Championship, the past few weeks have provided plenty to celebrate.
For a club with such a proud history of championship golf, these results are another reminder of the quality of golfers who have Cleveland Golf Club at the heart of their game.

First up was a fantastic achievement for Cleveland member Archie Palmer, who won the Carnoustie Junior Open.
To claim a title on one of the most famous links courses in the world is a brilliant achievement in itself, but it also feels particularly fitting for a Cleveland golfer. Our Championship Links course provides a demanding test where wind, firm ground, natural hazards and strategic course management are all part of the challenge.
Archie’s success at Carnoustie is another fantastic milestone in what is already an impressive junior golfing journey.

Then came an incredible result from former Cleveland Salver winner Jack Whaley, who went on to win the US Amateur Championship.
Jack’s success represents the very highest level of amateur golf and is a huge achievement.
The Cleveland Salver has long attracted talented amateur golfers from across the country and beyond, and seeing a former winner go on to lift one of amateur golf’s most prestigious titles is something we’re incredibly proud of.
It’s another great example of the quality of golfers who have competed at Cleveland over the years.

There was more success at county level this week, with two Cleveland juniors playing their part in the Yorkshire Boys team that claimed the English Boys County Championship.
Both players were unbeaten in foursomes throughout the week as Yorkshire battled their way to the title.
For two Cleveland juniors to contribute to a Yorkshire championship-winning team is a fantastic achievement and one that everyone at the club can be proud of.

Closer to home, congratulations also go to Andrew Robinson, who won our Club Championship.
Winning your own club championship is always a special achievement. It takes consistency, good course management and the ability to perform when the pressure is on – particularly on a Championship Links course like Cleveland.

It hasn’t just been about golfers associated with Cleveland achieving success.
We were also delighted to host the North Yorkshire & South Durham Championships, welcoming some of the region’s best golfers to compete on our links.
Congratulations to Carl Thompson of Close House, who came out on top and claimed the championship.
It was another fantastic event for the club and another opportunity to showcase Cleveland Golf Club as a venue capable of hosting high-level amateur competition.

Looking back across the past month, there’s a clear theme.
Cleveland Golf Club produces a demanding test of golf – and golfers associated with the club continue to rise to the challenge.
Our links course demands accuracy, imagination and adaptability. The wind can change the way a hole is played, firm fairways reward good strategy and our natural terrain creates challenges that cannot simply be overcome by hitting the ball further.
Those are the same skills that are required when competing at the highest levels of amateur golf.
From Archie’s victory at Carnoustie and Jack’s US Amateur triumph to Yorkshire’s county championship success and Andrew’s Club Championship win, it has been an exceptional few weeks.
And while we’re proud of every one of these achievements, we’re equally excited to see what comes next.
Cleveland Golf Club has a proud championship pedigree. These results are another chapter in that story.
